More Frustration

So I got a note from Katie's teacher today asking me to sign something on her IEP. It was concerning the use of the rifton chair (a chair they strap her into). I called the teacher and she said that they don't use the chair everyday but some days have to use it for up to two hours a day. We talked and are going to try to get a PCA (personal care assistant) for Katie. Also we talked about Katie maybe having ADD or ADHD. Well I called her pediatrician and they said that usually the school test for that but they will check into it. Hopefully I don't have to fight with anyone about this. Wish me luck.

I've never heard of one of those chairs before; but I can't imagine having to be strapped into it for 2hrs. Are they having a problem with getting her to sit still and stay in place? I don't know all the issues, or what has been tried before, so sorry if this has already been done - but what about a timer? Encourage her to sit for 5-10 min at a time with the timer, and when it goes off she's allowed to walk around for 1-2 min and then has to sit again? Sometimes I think Kayla has ADHD too, but she's never been formally dx or tested for it.

Thanks for your comment on my "delurking" post!
